Top-5 Finishes Boost Hoptown at Warren East Invitational

The Hopkinsville High girls’ track and field team finished eighth in a strong 16-team field Saturday at the Warren East Raider Classic.

Hoptown’s 35 points were eight points behind seventh-place Barren County.  Warren East took first place with Greenwood second.

Allison Wood ran a time of 5:46 in the 1600-meter run, finishing fourth.  She placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:26.04.

Tara Ladd was fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.59 seconds. Antavia Shemwell was 18th in the event.

Ladd came back later to finish 11th in the 200-meter dash, with Jayla Tucker coming in 20th place.

Freshman Anniriah Settles ran a 1:07.57 to take a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter run.

In the field events, LaTaijha Cherry finished sixth in the high jump at 4-feet, 8-inches and 18th in the long jump.

Tynaihja Watson was 14th in the triple jump and 17th in the long jump.

Lori Moyd had a pair of top-5 finishes in the throwing events.  She was third in the discus with a toss of 83-11 and fifth in the shot put at 30-feet.

Alexandria Williams was 11th in the discus throw and 13th in the shot put.

The 3200-meter relay team of Dana Hardison, Jessie Creamer Emily Bridges, and Hailey Cordero finished in seventh place, covering the distance in 15:32.

The 800-meter relay team of Tara Ladd, Dashiya Radford, Anniriah Settles, and Jayla Tucker finished seventh in 1:59.64.  The same crew finished eighth in the 400-meter relay in 57.37.
