Looking for their first three-game winning streak this season, the Christian County Colonels trailed early to hosts Fort Campbell on Monday before erupting over the final three innings for a 16-1 victory.

The Colonels have outscored their opposition 45-2 over the trio of wins to improve to 6-15 on the year.  Christian County will try to extend its winning streak to four on the road Tuesday at Warren East.  The Falcons will travel to Hopkinsville on Wednesday still searching for their first win of the season.

Fort Campbell starting pitcher Greyson Meyer allowed a lead-off double to Christian County’s Elijah Underhill, but then cruised through the first two innings.

The Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Julian Jenson’s single brought home Meyer.  The Colonels’ response was swift and decisive, with three runners coming home on wild pitches in the 3rd.  Meyer was injured covering home and had to leave the game for the Falcons, with Carter Timm replacing him on the mound.

Josh Snorton doubled off Timm to bring in another run, before a sacrifice fly and an error allowed 2 more to score for a 7-1 Christian County lead.

Making his first start of the season on the mound for the Colonels, freshman Broden Kellum struck out the side in the 1st and only allowed 2 hits over the first three innings.

Christian County added 4 more runs in the 4th, with Carter Sholar bringing in one with a double and Chance Henderson driving in 2 with a single.  Four-straight RBI singles by Caleb Moss, Aiden Lewis, Nicholas Lewis, and Gavin Conner added 7 more runs in the top of the 5th.

Aiden Blaszkowski’s second single of the game was Fort Campbell’s only hit in its last at-bat.  Kellum earned the win, allowing a single unearned run on 5 hits with a pair of walks and 8 strikeouts.

Meyer was handed the loss after yielding 4 earned runs on 3 hits with 3 walks.  Timm worked the final three frames and surrendered 12 runs, 6 earned, on 9 hits with 3 walks and a strikeout.

Henderson and Moss each had 2 RBI and six other Colonels drove in a run apiece.  Snorton and Henderson each had a pair of hits.

Christian County will try to extend its winning streak to four on the road Wednesday at Warren East.
