Hopkinsville’s leading scorer from the 2020-21 season, Alijah Watts, made his college plans official on Friday, signing with Southwestern Illinois College of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Watts heads to Belleville, IL after putting up just over 15 points per game for a Tigers’ team that finished runner-up in the 8th-District tournament and fell in overtime to Madisonville-North Hopkins in the semifinals of the 2nd Region tourney.
All All-Region selection, Watts was first in field goals made with 76 and shot 40% from 3-point land. His 3.9 rebounds per outing were third, he was tied for most free throws made with 21, and his 41 attempts were the most for the Tigers.
After the ceremony, Coach Larry Miller talked about how Watts projects at the next level.
