The Todd County Central softball team faced off with red-hot Butler County on Monday in Elkton, giving the Lady Bears all they could handle before falling 5-3.

The win is Butler County’s 10th-straight to improve to 20-4 overall.  The Lady Rebels slip to 8-10 with a trip to Franklin-Simpson scheduled for Tuesday.

A 3-run 1st inning put Butler County in control, with Aliceson Hunt doubling to bring in a run and Aleace Hall contributing an RBI single.

Todd Central got a run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Jocelyn Mock, but Butler County restored the 3-run advantage with an RBI single by Aubrey Clark in the top of the 3rd.

With runners on 2nd and 3rd and only 1 out in the bottom of the 3rd, the Lady Rebels got an RBI from Abigail McPherson and a run-sc0ring single by Madelyn Slaughter to trim the lead to one.

Butler County tacked on a 5th run in the top of the 7th, and despite a 2-out single from Abby Williams the Lady Rebels couldn’t rally in their final at-bat.

McPherson went the distance in the circle for Todd Central, allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.

Hunt got the win for the Lady Bears, yielding 3 earned runs on 9 hits with no walks and 3 strikeouts.  She also finished 4/4 at the plate with an RBI.
