They say you can never have too much pitching.

Hopkinsville would appear to have added another arm to its depth after senior Landon Snyder threw a complete-game three-hitter Tuesday in a 6-1 victory over Caldwell County.

Snyder was making his first varsity start on the mound, but gave up just a single third-inning run while striking out seven and walking just one.

Meanwhile, Preston Chaudoin was 4-for-4 at the plate and knocked in two runs while Zach Moss was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in. Kaden West was 2-for-2 with a triple.

Hoptown (13-5) put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Moss and Chaudoin with one out.

Hopkinsville added another run in the second when Jacob Dilday singled and later came in on a wild pitch.

Caldwell (8-9) had its best offensive opportunity in the top of the third when Collin Whittington doubled and Carter Whittington was hit by a pitch to put the first two men on base. Tate VanHooser drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right, but Caldwell could only push across the one run in the frame.

West tripled leading off the bottom of the fourth for Hopkinsville. He later scored on a wild pitch. Moss singled in another run to make it a 5-1 ballgame.

Hoptown tacked on another run in the sixth when Moss doubled and scored on a single to center by Chaudoin.

Collin Whittington went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles for Caldwell.

With Hopkinsville’s win on Tuesday, the all-time series with Caldwell now stands dead even at 34-34.
