Christian County Rolls Past Hoptown for 8th District Softball Win

The Christian County Lady Colonels took advantage of some cooperative Hopkinsville pitching Saturday to pick up their eighth win in their last nine games. The Lady Colonels rang up 20 runs on their way to a 20-3 three-inning win over the Lady Tigers.

Christian County used 11 walks along with 11 hits to score two runs in the first, six in the second, and then 12 runs in the third inning. In the third inning, the first eleven batters to come to the plate all reached safely for the Lady Colonels.

Reni Shemwell went 1-1 with a grand slam, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Tenley Gilbert ended up 2-4 with a home run, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Riley Hancock and Karlee Crick both had 3 RBIs in the contest.

For Hopkinsville, Morgan Hodge went 1-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Kaitlyn Kaetzel was 1-2 with a double and a run scored. Anna Hodge finished the game 1-2 with a double and an RBI.

Riley Hancock picked up the win for Christian County, going all three innings, giving up one earned run, on three hits, while striking out three.

Christian County moves to 15-4 on the season and stays unbeaten in the 8th District.

Hopkinsville falls to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in district play.
