Two Paducah Tilghman pitchers limited the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers to just one hit over five innings and the Tilghman offense got them more than “enough” run support to win the game Friday night. Tilghman scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled on from there to a 14-1 five-inning win.

Hopkinsville actually took the early lead in the game, converting a Tilghman error and two ground outs into a 1-0 lead a half-inning into the contest.

The Lady Blue Tornado stormed right back in the bottom of half of the inning to take control of the game for good. Tilghman combined a couple of hits with a Hoptown error, two hit batters, and two walks to take the lead at 4-1.

Paducah Tilghman then blew the game open with a seven-run third inning. Hopkinsville was charged with three miscues in the field in the inning, as the Lady Tornado hung a seven spot on the scoreboard to run the lead out to 11-1.

Tilghman would then add three insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, before the game ended under the ten-run rule after the top of the fifth.

Tilghman’s 14 runs came on only six hits, as the Lady Tigers committed four errors in the game. Morgan Hodge gave up 11 runs in the circle, but only three of those were earned. She gave up six hits, struck out four while walking three.

Hopkinsville was limited to one hit in the game, that an Anna Hodge single in the top of the fourth inning.

With the loss, which is the third in a row for the Lady Tigers, Hopkinsville now falls to 2-7 on the season. They return to action Monday when they host Crittenden County.
