The Caldwell County Lady Tigers’ losing streak to Madisonville-North Hopkins is no more.

Caldwell picked up its first win over its 7th District rival since 2008, beating the Lady Maroons 6-3 Tuesday at the Ratliff Park Complex in Princeton.

Majah Hollowell socked a three-run home run to centerfield in the bottom of the third inning to give the Lady Tigers a 6-1 lead.

Caldwell scored four times in that inning. Presley McKinney singled home the first run of the frame.

Madisonville put up two runs in the top of the seventh before the Lady Tigers held on for the 6-3 win.

Caldwell never trailed in the contest.

The Lady Tigers had dropped 30 straight games to the Lady Maroons.

Caldwell’s last win over Madisonville had been on April 17, 2008. The Lady Tigers actually beat Lady Maroons twice during the regular season that year — by 6-5 scores both times — but then lost to Madisonville 2-0 in 10 innings in the district tournament semifinals.

Brylee Butts went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double for Caldwell. A.J. Hollowell and Allie Felker were each 2-for-4. Majah Hollowell was 1-for-2 with the homer, three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Illysa Stallins allowed three earned runs on eight hits to pick up the pitching win. She struck out one and walked one.

For Madisonville, Zoe Davis was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

The Lady Tigers are 6-7 this season while the Lady Maroons are also 6-7. Caldwell is 3-1 in the district while Madisonville is 4-1.

Caldwell’s girls have another district game on Thursday when they host Dawson Springs.
