Through the first inning Tuesday night, it looked as if the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers had the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers right where they wanted them. Hopkinsville had come into the game struggling to score runs and the Lady Blazers managed to hold the Lady Tigers scoreless in the first inning while scoring a run of their own.

Then, the wheels came off the wagon.

After scoring just a total of seven runs in their first four games, the Lady Tigers scored seventeen runs over the next three innings as they rolled to a 17-1 four-inning win over University Heights. Maybe it was the weather change that helped get the Hopkinsville lineup rolling, as temperatures were near 70 when the game started and around a cool 50 degrees when the game ended.

Hopkinsville would score four runs in the second, six in the third, and seven in the fourth to rip the game open. The Lady Tigers scored their 17 runs on ten hits and took advantage of four Lady Blazer errors.

Jakayla Grubbs had a monster game for the Lady Tigers, going 3-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Karli Herrera was 2-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Daijha Owen Morand went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Hoptown pitcher Morgan Hodge limited the Lady Blazer to just three hits. She struck out two and walked two in four innings of work.

Krista Keller, Regan Pollard, and Jaila Batey had one hit each for the Lady Blazers in the game. Pollard drove in the only run for UHA.

Hopkinsville goes to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the district with the win.

UHA falls to 3-3 and 1-1 in the district.
