Henderson County Takes Walk Off Win Over Christian County

Henderson County strung together three singles with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning to come from a run down and pick up an 11-10 win over Christian County Friday evening in Henderson. The Henderson rally followed one by Christian County in the top half of the inning, where the southern Colonels scored 3 runs to come from behind and take a one-run lead.

Henderson County drew a one-out walk to get the game-winning rally underway. Then the Colonels got two-out hits from Andrew Mills, Seth Givens, and Landon Hagan to drive in the tying and winning runs.

Christian County got a bases-loaded double from P. Liddell in the top half of the 7th to come from 9-7 down and take a 10-9 lead rolling into the bottom of the 7th.

Both teams had their offenses rolling in the contest, with each team scoring in every at-bat but one. Christian County scored in every inning but the 3rd, while Henderson County scored in each inning, except the 6th.

Christian County trailed most of the game, until Liddell’s big hit in the top of the 7th.

Carter Sholar had a big day for Christian County, going 2-3, with two walks and four runs scored. Elijah Underhill finished 2-2, with an RBI and a run scored. Patrick Liddell was 1-4, with a double, a run scored, and 3 RBIs.

Christian County scored their ten runs on nine hits, while Henderson County plated 11 runs on ten hits.

David Krzywada was tagged with the loss for Christian County. He went 3 2/3 innings, giving up six runs, only three of them earned, on five hits, striking out four, while walking five. Houston George had the start for Christian County, going three innings, giving up five runs, two of them earned, on just three hits, striking out four, and walking four.

Defensive miscues proved costly for the Colonels, as they were scored with five errors for the game.
