The Hopkinsville boys’ tennis team hit the road on Thursday to open the 2021 season, with the McCracken County Mustangs proving to be ungracious hosts. The Tigers dropped all four singles matches and a pair of doubles matchups by a combined score of 48-7.
The Tigers’ top seed, Spencer Powell, fell 8-0 to McCracken’s Keegan Terrone, while 2nd-seed James Folz also failed to take a set in a loss to Connor McIntosh.
V’Shawn Blount dropped his match with Haden Scruggs by an 8-1 score, with Mark Llanes also winning a single set in a loss to Manav Shah.
In doubles play, Hoptown’s Powell and Folz dropped a match 8-3 with Om Patel and Emmanuel Puertollano. Llanes and Blount were beaten 8-2 by McCracken’s Aaron Lundberg and Wyatt Crabtree.
