Christian County’s wrestlers took third place Saturday at the South Oldham Dragon Invitational. The Colonels had two wrestlers claim first place titles.
TyDarius Kelly kept his unbeaten record intact with a championship win in the 285-pound class. Kelly, the top-ranked wrestler in his class, won his first two matches in less than two minutes and defeated South Oldham’s Amarius Beaudoin 4-0 in the championship match to run his season record to 16-0.
J.T. Adams won the 195-pound class, improving his season record to 17-2. After winning his first two matches by fall, he scored an 11-6 decision over Anderson County’s Dyllan Davis, the No.12 wrestler in the state, in the championship match. Adams entered the weekend ranked No. 7 in the 195-pound class.
JaRi Campbell finished second in the 106-pound class. Campbell, the No. 7 wrestler statewide in the class, won his first two matches easily. He fell to Ryle’s Jonny Nance, ranked 11th, 5-3 in the championship match.
Austin Grant-Hall finished second in the 138-pound class. He defeated South Oldham’s Luke Oliveros in the semifinals 6-0. He lost to North Hardin’s Devon Herron 17-2 in the championship match. Grant-Hall is the No. 1 wrestler at 138, while Herron is No. 2 at 145.
Mason Kellett was third in the 145-pound class. After losing to Paducah Tilghman’s Malachi Rider in the semifinals, he bounced back with a consolation win over South Oldham’s Alexander Hall and defeated Lafayette’s Luke Chapman, the No. 9 wrestler in the class, by a 3-2 decision to claim third place.
Landon Brumfield finished third in the 152-pound class after losing his first match of the day. He rebounded by winning three straight matches.
Gage Fowler placed fourth in the 126-pound class. He lost to Bullitt East’s Bryant Faucett in the semifinals and suffered an injury default to Paducah Tilghman’s Jayden Frazier, ranked No. 4 in the class, in the third-place match.
Omarion Wimberly took fourth place in the 182-pound class. He defeated Scott’s Emmanuel Mill by fall before losing to Paducah Tilghman’s Spencer Redwine, ranked No. 12 in the state, in the third-place match.
No. 11 A.J. Harvey was fourth in the 220-pound class. He defeated Lafayette’s Nic Russell in the quarterfinal by fall before losing to Paducah Tilghman’s Uriah Virzi in the semifinals. He lost a 12-10 decision to Russell in the third-place match.
Christian County totaled 149 points to finish behind first-place Ryle [211] and Paducah Tilghman [149].
