In just five days, Christian County and Henderson County have played a pair of marathon games.  Both times, Henderson scored in its final at bat to win.

The latest came Tuesday when Henderson scored six times in the eighth inning to win 13-7 in Hopkinsville.

Down 7-5 in the sixth, Christian County scored one run but left the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the seventh, Houston George was hit by a pitch and made it around to third.  Two batters later, courtesy runner Zach Cornett broke for second, forcing Henderson pitcher Garrett Allinder to initiate a rundown.  George broke from third and stole home to tie the game at 7-7.

Henderson County plated six runs in the eighth on five hits, two walks, a Christian County error, and a balk.

Henderson rapped out 16 hits in the game. Colton Evans, Andrew Mills, and Wes Goldsberry each had three hits with Mills driving in three.

Christian County had seven hits. Patrick Liddell and George Forrest each had two. Six Christian County pitchers combined to strike out 12 Henderson batters.

Christian County jumped ahead with three runs in the second inning. Houston George reached on an error and Patrick Liddell followed with a single. After a Chance Henderson sacrifice bunt, Preston Phan plated the game’s first run with an RBI single. Christian County added a second run when Liddell scored on an errant pickoff throw.

Another Henderson County error added a third Christian County run.

Henderson County answered quickly with a five-spot in the third inning.  Mills began the scoring with an RBI double, and Goldsberry added an RBI single. Kaden Knittel closed out the scoring in the inning with a double to left that scored two runs.

Christian County got a run back in the home half of the third on back-to-back doubles by Elijah Underhill and Houston George.

Henderson County [5-1] beat Christian County 11-10 with a walk-off hit in the seventh last Friday and extended its win streak over the southern Colonels to four games.

Christian County dropped to 0-4 and will open district play Thursday when they host University Heights Academy.
