Caldwell County grad Derrin Boyd and the Georgetown Tigers are headed to Montgomery, Alabama, this week for their first round matchup in the NAIA National Championship.

Georgetown is a No. 2 seed in its three-team pod and will face No. 3 Keiser University of Florida at 5:00 Friday at Faulkner University in Montgomery.

Forty-eight teams will compete in the opening rounds on Friday and Saturday at eight sites throughout the nation. Each of these locations feature two, three-team brackets, totaling 16 brackets across the country.

The winners of each of these brackets advance to the 2021 NAIA National Championship Final Site in Kansas City, Mo., for the 83rd annual NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship, March 18-23.

Georgetown is 16-7 and ranked 15th in the nation while Keiser is 20-9.

The Georgetown-Keiser winner will advance to face top-seeded Stillman College of Alabama, on Saturday at 5:00 with a berth in the Final Site on the line.

Stillman is 16-3 and ranked 16th in the latest NAIA poll.

Georgetown leads the NAIA Tournament field with its 40th appearance in the men’s basketball championship.

Boyd, a redshirt freshman, is averaging 16.6 points a game this season for the Georgetown Tigers.
