Manuel Drives Braves Past Trigg County 68-54

Union County hit nine first half 3-pointers and coasted to a 68-54 win over Trigg County Thursday. The 14-point win was Union’s largest over Trigg since 1993.

Izaiah Manuel didn’t miss a shot in the first half, knocking down 6 of 6 behind the arc and scoring 20 points by the break.

After hitting 7 of 12 shots in the first quarter, the Braves hit 9 of 16 in the second quarter as they outscored the Wildcats 23-8. Union hit 9 of 16 shots from 3-point range in the first half in building a 20-point lead by intermission.

Trigg cut the deficit to 12 points in the third quarter but could get no closer.

Manuel led all scorers with 25 points. Ethan Corbett added 12 points as the Braves moved its season needle to 12-7.

De’Von Ladd, who scored 39 points Tuesday, added 21 more Thursday but was the only Wildcat to score in double figures.

Khyran Vaughn had nine points and seven rebounds, and Jhaden Vaughn added eight points and seven boards.  Kendric Adams had 11 rebounds and five points.

Trigg shot just 33-percent for the game, including 6 of 19 behind the arc.

Union County cooled down in the second half, connecting on just 9 of 30 shots.

The Braves take a one-game lead in the all-time series with Trigg County at 18-17.

The Wildcats will host Livingston Central Friday at 7:30 at Wildcat Gym.
