After struggling to put points on the scoreboard and its first three games, Trigg County has scored over 70 points in back-to-back games for the first time in 12 months.

The Wildcats buried 14 three-pointers in picking up a 74-41 win at Cloverport Friday. It was Trigg County‘s first trip to the 3rd Region School in the program’s history. The teams were scheduled to play last Friday but the threat of inclement weather postponed it a week.

Tyler Ahart knocked down seven of Trigg County‘s 14 shots from behind the arc in the contest. It’s the most three-pointers for a Wildcat since Micah Brown hit seven against Clarksburg, Tennessee in 2017. Ahart’s threes accounted for all 21 of his points. Tae Thompson, who scored a career-high 35 points in Thursday’s win over Caldwell County, continued his strong play with 21 points. He connected on six three-pointers.

As a team, Trigg county shot 14 of 35 from behind the arc. They connected on 13 shots inside the 3-point line.

The Wildcats lead 20-8 after one quarter and extended it to 39-18 by halftime.  11 players scored for the Wildcats in the game

Cloverport, who dropped to 0-7 with the loss, was led by 14 points from Devon Farris.

The Wildcats move past the .500 mark on the season to 3-2. The Wildcats are two games into a six-day stretch they will see them play five games. Trigg County returns to the court Saturday night when they visit Dawson Springs. The Panthers beat the Wildcats and their former coach Chad Burgett twice last year.

Saturday will be the Panthers season opener after a two week shut down due to COVID-19 protocol.
