One goal was enough for the Trigg County girls’ soccer team on Monday night in Paducah, with the Lady Wildcats making a first-half free-kick stand up for a 1-0 victory over hosts St. Mary.

The Lady Wildcats applied early pressure, and it paid off eight-and-a-half minutes in when Olivia Noffsinger came forward from her defensive position to convert a 20-yard free-kick to give Trigg the only goal it would need.

The Lady Vikings controlled possession through much of the second half, and Lady Wildcat goalkeeper Sarah Sink was called into action on several occasions, but she and the Trigg defense held firm.

The Lady Wildcats return to their home field on Tuesday for a matchup with Union County.  The Lady Braves only match this season resulted in a 10-0 loss to Henderson County, while Trigg County will be looking for its third-straight win after an opening-night loss to Caldwell County.
