Caldwell Tops UHA 82-63 for 5th Straight Win

Caldwell County won its fifth straight game and beat University Heights Academy for the first time in over five years.

Tripp Branch buried five 3-pointers and scored 18 points while Cayden Fraliex added 17 points as the Tigers upended the Blazers 82-63 Tuesday night in Princeton.

Jamarius Blaine chipped in 13 points for Caldwell, which lost to UHA 69-61 in overtime last month when the two teams met in the championship game of the 2nd Region All A Classic at Livingston Central.

Caldwell (14-14) edged ahead 40-35 at halftime, then led the entire second half in the rematch.

The Tigers went up 60-48 through three quarters and the Blazers could get no closer than 10 in the final frame.

Caldwell was 9 of 11 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter while stretching the final margin to 19 points.

UHA, now 14-11, got 28 points from Amana McGee and 18 from KJ Crump.

The Blazers had beaten Caldwell six straight times.

The Tigers’ last win the series was an 88-79 decision on Dec. 16, 2014, at UHA.
Caldwell will finish the regular season at home on Friday against Livingston Central.

UHA, which won in overtime 75-73 on Monday at Owensboro Catholic, will visit Webster County on Thursday.
