Hopkinsville’s inability to get to the free throw line and Daviess County’s inability to miss once they got there proved to the difference as Hoptown dropped a 63-53 decision to the Panthers in the final game of the Fuller Physical Therapy Holiday Classic at Webster County Saturday.

Hoptown was playing without one starter, and another got hurt during the game which affected the rotations Tiger coach Larry Miller used during the game.  In addition, Hoptown was 5-of-8 at the free throw line for the game, while Daviess County was 21-of-23.

Don Victor scored 11 of his team-high 18 points in the second quarter.  Hoptown trailed 30-26 at halftime.  Daviess outscored Hoptown 20-12 in the fourth quarter as they knocked down 12-of-13 free throws in the frame to hold off any Tiger comeback attempt.

Reece Jesse added 14 points for the Tigers, who dropped to 4-5 on the season.

The Tigers hope to have a full compliment of players Friday when they open play in the First Southern National Bank Classic at Logan County.  Hoptown will play Great Crossing at 3pm.
