Kara Southwood celebrated her 16th birthday with three hits, and Raelyn Marlowe had a key two-run single to lead Trigg County to a 4-0 win at Hickman County – their first win over the Lady Falcons in five tries.

Trigg’s Hannah Colbert and Hickman County’s Gracie Lusk locked up in a scoreless pitcher’s duel through five innings. In the sixth inning, Autumn Durham and Colbert both singled. Durham broke the deadlock when she scored on a single by Alyssa Southwood. Marlowe followed with a two-run single to extend the Lady Wildcat lead to 3-0.

Trigg tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Kara Southwood singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Durham single.

Meanwhile, Colbert struck out eight, walked just one and didn’t allow a hit until Lusk singled in the sixth inning. She finished with her third one-hitter in her last six starts.

Lusk, who helped pitch Hickman County to the First Region All-A title last month, struck out five and allowed nine hits.

In addition to the birthday girl’s three hits, Durham and Alyssa Southwood each had a pair of hits.

Trigg County improved to 15-12 with the win. The program won 93 games in their first 20 years. Trigg has won 80 games the last five seasons with three more weeks to add to that total.

The Lady Wildcats will see Hickman County (18-9) again Friday at the Complex. Trigg County (15-12) will host Webster County Tuesday.
