Trigg County dropped a pair of games Friday at the Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat Classic as the Trigg bats apparently missed the bus.

Trigg lost the opener to Franklin-Simpson 3-0 as they managed just two hits off Madison Davis. The Franklin-Simpson hurler struck out eight and didn’t walk anyone in handing Trigg County their first loss of the season.

Franklin-Simpson scored a run in the first inning and added two insurance runs in the sixth inning.

Both of Trigg County’s hits were for extra bases. Logan Darnall doubled, and Rylee Hendricks tripled, but the Lady Wildcats could not push across a run in either inning.

Hannah Colbert took the loss for Trigg, allowing six hits and three earned runs. She struck out six and walked three.

In the nightcap, No. 15 South Warren handed Trigg County a 16-2 loss, rapping out 19 hits and scoring in every inning in the contest.

Jessica Bush had four hits and scored four runs for South Warren. Taylor Enlow, and Alexis Isable both had three hits.

Trigg County managed four hits in the game. They pushed across their first run in the fourth inning when Logan Darnall reached on an error and scored ahead of a double to deep center by T.T. Grubbs.

After South Warren out a 10-spot on the board in the fifth inning, Trigg scored their final run when Phelan Dossett singled, and Kara Southwood followed with a triple.

Southwood suffered the pitching loss in her first start of the season, allowing three earned runs and five hits in 2.2 innings of work. Middle schoolers Kara Hyde and Emma West also saw time in the circle for Trigg County.

The Lady Wildcats continue play in the tournament Saturday when they take on No. 2 Warren East and Logan County.
