The Hoptown Hoppers have accepted the resignation of both General Manager John Bruce and Coach Brock Moss the team announced Thursday.

Bruce has been at the helm of the Hoppers for the past four seasons during which time the team won the regular season title in 2016 and were OVL Western Division champions in 2017 and 2018.

“It is a year-round job to recruit, sell, promote, and manage the activities of the Hoptown Hoppers. The time demands prevent me from enjoying my family during the summer. It’s time for someone else to take the reins and build on the firm foundation,” Bruce said in his resignation letter.

Bruce will remain as general manager through October 1.

Meanwhile, Moss steps down after one season as head coach of the Hoppers. In his letter to the board, Moss said “life and unforeseen events have called me to move in a different direction.” Hoppers President Frank Giles said Moss, the head coach at Georgia Highlands College, has accepted a position in the Valley League, which is a summer collegiate league in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.

The Hoppers were 21-20 during the regular season and advanced to the OVL championship series where they lost to Owensboro in three games.
