A member of the Caldwell County Tiger basketball team can now add a national championship to his on the court resume. Derrin Boyd, who will be a senior during the 2018-2019 season, along with his teammates on the SI Select 17U team picked up the title Tuesday afternoon in the AAU 17U/11th grade International Championship at the Orlando Sports Center.
The championship marked the second consecutive title for the SI Select 17U team.
Boyd, who will be among the contenders for the 2nd Region Player of the Year in 2018-2019, also was voted as the Boys Basketball winner in the YourSportsEdge.Com “Fan Faves” awards.
The SI Select 15U team reached the semifinals of the 15U tournament, finishing in 3rd place. Caldwell County’s Tripp Branch and Trigg County’ Kendric Adams were members of that team.
The SI Select 13U team also reached the semifinals of the 13U tournament. Trigg County’s Khyrann Vaughn and Gavin Grubbs were members of that team.
