Things have gotten interesting atop the boys’ Fifth District basketball standings following Lyon County’s 64-55 win over Trigg County in Eddyville Tuesday.

The outcome gives Lyon, Trigg, and Livingston Central identical 4-2 marks in district play, with each team 1-1 against the other and 2-0 against Crittenden County. This means a 3-way coin toss will be needed to break the tie and determine who the top three seeds will be in next month’s District Tournament. Crittenden County, host of the tournament, will be the four-seed.

Lyon County used a 12-0 second quarter run behind seven points from Max Wadlington. Lyon led by 13 points before Trigg ended the half on an 8-2 run, highlighted by Kirome Bingham’s 3-pointer at the halftime horn.

The Lyons hit 8-of-13 shots in the third quarter to build their largest lead of the contest at 53-33. A couple of bench players sparked an 18-3 run that saw Trigg County cut the deficit to five points. Micah Brown scored six points, and Jakobe Bridges added five as Trigg made the score 56-51 with 1:38 left.

After both teams exchanged baskets, Wadlington converted an old-fashioned 3-point play with 56 seconds left, and Trigg didn’t get any closer.

Wadlington led Lyon County with 17 points and four rebounds. Gabe Board added 12 points and five assists, while Travis Tancy and Clay Haines both came off the bench to score 10 points.

Kendric Adams had 12 points and nine rebounds for Trigg County, who has dropped four straight to Lyon County for the first time in 15 years. DeOvion Day scored 12 points, and Devron Triplet scored 10 points.

Trigg County (11-8) will travel to Christian County Thursday, while Lyon County (5-13) will host Fort Campbell Thursday.
