Boyd’s Triple-Double Leads Caldwell Over Crittenden County

The Caldwell County Tigers rebounded from a tough loss to Hopkinsville by going on the road Tuesday night and coming away with a big win over Crittenden County. The Tigers used a triple-double from Derrin Boyd to lead them to a 70-50 win over the Rockets.

Caldwell County got out of the gate quickly, leading 26-14 after the first quarter. Boyd had a great start to the night as well, coming up with 12 points in the opening stanza. The Tigers continued to extend their lead in the 2nd quarter, leading 43-26 at the half.

Crittenden County was finally able to slow the Tiger offense down in the third quarter, holding the Tigers to just nine points. The Rockets were able to trim the lead to 52-41 after three. However, the Tigers got things rolling again in the 4th quarter, outscoring Crittenden County 18-9 to seal the win.

Derrin Boyd had a spectacular night for Caldwell County, coming up with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. John Davis added 20, while Cayden Fraliex and Jameer Riley had 10 apiece.

The Rockets were led by Preston Turley with 19 points.

Caldwell County improves to 2-1 on the season, and will return to action Thursday night when they host Mayfield.
